After having a wonderful dance workshop recently, I had to stop & reflect on how far
we’ve come. From online classes & events for international festivals during the 1st
year after the pandemic; we are now working within schools & finally taking our
creative movement sessions to Museums & Heritage sites. It’s exciting to see what
would be our 1st ‘normal year’ now coming into fruition.
Last week we taught over 300 pupils & all learnt the waggle dance. Joining in the
buzz with key stage 1 pupils for their bee week, we heard they’d even seen a
beekeeper telling them about how bees make honey!
The pupils started by waking the bees up in their hive to go foraging for food. We
added pollen baskets so the bees could collect nectar & then brush the pollen from
flower to flower. It was fantastic to see that they had remembered important
information from class. Recalling when they were a tiny seed planted into the soil,
reception class knew they needed to reach up for sunlight & get to water to grow!
These guys were very enthusiastic about moving in the breeze - it was so gorgeous to
co-create some choreography with these very clever, very young artists.
The bees' job creates more plants, therefore forming habitats for other animals; the
bees are super important to us because without them we would have a lot less food.
They play a crucial role for all of us.
Now, I would like to look forward to tell you some exciting news that we will be
working with Hogarth’s House this August.

So, drum roll please….. These creative dance classes will be happening every week in
Chiswick. We are buzzing to be running 4 creative dance sessions throughout August
in the Summer studio at Hogarth’s House. Providing fitness, focus & freedom!
Waggle Dance Wednesdays are family friendly & designed for 8-12 year olds. You can
also check out the Mulberry Garden project which was funded by the National
Lottery Heritage fund, Weston Studio & of course, hit up the museum that holds
William Hogarth’s prints. He is known as the “Father of British Painting” so each
week we will be influenced by themes from the nature around us & the art he
created.
Watch out for more activities for children they have coming up. You can follow them

working so hard.
See you on the dancefloor!
